Elvis Music Changes the World
Dr. Hasan Yahya
Elvis Presley was the spearhead for Black Music to get through the American culture.
Few knew that Presley’s cultural revolution called for American social integration. He was a supreme figure in the American life.
Presley became a national figure brought attention when he transformed the field of popular music in 1956 and had a huge effect on the broader scope of popular culture. Critics described him as the catalyst for the cultural revolution of rock and roll.
At the age of 21, his first appearance on American network television, he was one of the most famous people in the world.
The cultural range of his music has expanded to the point where it includes not only the hits of the day, but also patriotic recitals, pure country gospel, and really dirty blues.
Rock and Roll music occupied a central position in mainstream American culture in the fifties and sixties of the past century. It facilitated a new acceptance and appreciation of black culture. After a long period of Black music had ignored with no chance to get through, In this regard, Little Richard said of Presley, “He was an integrator. Elvis was a blessing. In other words, Presley had opened the door for black music.”
Elvis Presley was the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century”, said composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. “He introduced the beat to everything and he changed everything—music, language, clothes. He was recognized in polls and surveys, as one of the most important popular music artists and influential Americans.
A New York Times editorial on the 25th anniversary of Presley’s death observed wrote: “Elvis’s breakthroughs are underappreciated because in this rock-and-roll age, his hard-rocking music and sultry style have triumphed so completely.”
In short, those who were Rocking and Rolling in the past, in their chairs today, appreciate Alvis as a a great symbol of potency, a great nice person and for sure! a great American.
