According to National Sleep Foundation, studies suggest that people spend more than two hours dreaming each night, and that dreamers report having their most vivid dreams during REM sleep. Research in fact shows that female patients who recall their dreams were more likely to recover from depression. (WebMD)
A dream looks like this: In the jungle, I was alone, the grass is too high, and thick trees surrounding me from all sides. No way I can move left of right, going ahead or going back. Suddenly I heard a sound coming from my left side, the grass open road to a light, I cannot recognize clearly what brought that light. I tried to control the situation, but there was a hand coming from the light to take my hand. I tried several times, but I couldn’t do it. I jumped, one time, twice, and in the third time, the light goes off. I was afraid, So I cried and woke up.
This is atypical dream people may see while sleeping. But in psychology, we believe that dreams are symbolic expression of real-life concerns about our ability to reach or achieve something, like helping ourselves or helping out other who are in need.
Dream, likely is a way to help us cope with major life stress. That’s why people express the need to overcome the events in the dream. Psychologists may say in this case, dreams are internal therapy because they are associated with previous feelings in reality.
Other psychologists may say that research believes dreams are just a byproduct of sleep, but are important in the same time for memory consolidation or may be conflict resolution.
Two weeks ago, My wife went through sleeping test, dreams occur, her doctor said: “There are two periods of sleeping one called REM (rapid-eye-movement) and non-REM sleep.” Dreams were not all negative, in fact before waking up, dreams became positive.” The doctor continues to say: “ When you remember your dreams, it is a good factor to reduce depression especially among women.
In conclusion, everyone may dream while sleeping. This is normal, especially when stress is becoming a daily affair in modern life. Dreams help out depressed persons to be in control of situations need problem solving. Which we all need.(383 words) www.hasaanyahya.com
