Two Minutes w/Dr Yahya: On Common Core Curriculum and Methodology in American Education Style: A Straightforward Literacy Strategy
Hasan Yahya, M.A and Ph.D, Educational Administration
Ph.D Comparative Sociology
PART THREE: THE IDEA OF PLANNING AND EXECUTING “COMMON CORE” in the United States schools was raised to overcome deficiency of learning according to old methods compared with world nations. Many professional-educational sites and special discussions were found on the internet, for example, lessonplanet.com. In this series we cover some issues concerning subjects covered in the “Common Core” education and testing in that site.
Describing changes in Common Core education, under the Title : A Straightfoward Literacy Strategy grades 2nd to five reads. It “requires class members to use complete sentences to improve literacy within your classroom, or perhaps, in the entire school. However, in the K to 2nd, a Philanthropist is needed.”
What is a Philanthropist? In terms of “Common Core” literature? And what does a philanthropist do? Help his/her class explore philanthropy using character development and literacy ideas. So, learners will define and give examples of philanthropy, listen to stories as The Lion and the Mouse, Sinbad, the sailor, or else, discuss how the characters help each other, and create a flip book focused on the events from the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
For practical purposes, at the end, have partners practice retelling the story to each other. Further extension activities are listed to help you celebrate National Philanthropy Day as a class.AAE
